Dear Colleagues, Dear Friends!
It is my honour and privilege to welcome you in the graceful Sunrise Valley, in the lovely city of Vilnius!
A lot of thanks for your time and your sincere efforts in contributing to this event enabling hence to feel beauty of physics, the elegance of optoelectronics, the charm of new materials and attraction of novel devices. Highest appreciations we attribute to all our sponsors making this event possible!
It is the 19th Conference already from its establishment in 1971. The event has experienced evolution, gained new dimensions but is still keeping long standing scientific traditions related to semiconductor research and applications.
The Conference will continue the tradition of Lublin Readings started from 2019. The inherent feature of this section – historical lecture dedicated to important events in history of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth – a dual Polish-Lithuanian state – that was created by the Union of Lublin on July 1, 1569 and existed up to 1795. The lecture in this conference will be dedicated to the Constitution of 3 May 1791 that was adopted by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
The part of the Conference will be Tutorial session which includes Master class for scientific writing focusing on preparation of a manuscript for highly-ranked journals and illuminating lectures on hot topics given by famous scientists.
This year APROPOS will be enriched by a special section dedicated to Quantum technologies and a concert given by chamber chorus Aidija. We will have the possibility to feel how physics and music can be complementary to each other.
… We are living in a strange world, full of stress and geopolitical uncertainty. Tomorrow never dies, but it becomes unpredictable. It is a miracle that we are here in this particular place at this particular time. Albert Einstein said: “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”
I would like to wish you miracles. Not only illuminating conferences and enlightening discussions but also miracles – in your laboratories, in breakthrough ideas and encouraging discoveries. Miracles permitting to experience a sharp contrast to everyday routine.
If APROPOS will stimulate a small step towards this direction we would be very delighted as it could serve as a little – but sincere and zealous – contribution to creating a more advanced and peaceful society.
